Skill Select Sydney

Skilled job shortages are felt in many parts of Sydney, especially for the building and construction trade sectors. These skill shortages are also in areas such as nursing and other medical related professions; and in teaching.

Teachers for science subjects and teaching in areas that are important for manufacturing, tool and diemakers and machining.
For many workers, the cost of living and housing near the Sydney CBD means working in their jobs in which they were trained too expensive. Skiled workers want to work nearer to home and to do so may need retraining again or access to good public transport options to enable career maintenance. Alternatively, new opportunities need to be located to where both workers and clients live.

New job and skills sectors will need new job skills as new employment opportunities emerge. From what were single discipline studies may need rethinking in terms of the development of hybrid fields such as bioinformatics, mechatronics and computer–aided design/computer–aided manufacturing.
